On April 8, the 42nd Chinese Antarctic Expedition returned safely on the Xuelong, a polar research vessel, and docked at the dock of the Polar Research Institute of China in Shanghai. Xu Yinhui, a2025doctoral student at the School of Automation and a member of the Southeast University Antarctic research team, returned with the team after completing the inland research mission. Academician Sun Youhong, President of Southeast University, Zhong Wenqi, Vice president, Li Shihua, dean of the School of Automation, Professor Wei Haikun, a member of the 27th Chinese Antarctic Research Expedition, and Liu Shunlin, secretary of the Party Committee and director of the Polar Research Institute of China, congratulated Xu Yinhui and others on their safe return.

Xu said that during the five-month expedition, facing the challenges of low temperatures, strong winds and complex road conditions in the polar region, he deeply felt the power of the "Antarctic spirit" and the enthusiasm of the inland team to work together. During the expedition, he focused on polar intelligent unmanned observation monitoring and accomplished two landmark tasks: first, he built a polar micro unmanned observation monitoring station to collect various types of data such as vehicle vibration and meteorology to support mobile photovoltaic prediction, and at the same time constructed a multi-energy collaborative optimization and control model for the low-altitude platform; The second is to carry out low-altitude ice and snow surface state collection based on multi-sensor devices on the low-altitude unmanned aerial vehicle platform, obtain key data such as the distribution of ice fissures and the geometric shape of the polar surface, and conduct field tests of the hydrogen energy low-altitude platform in the polar region to provide core support for scientific research safety and unmanned system technology research, and lay a solid foundation for the construction of the polar unmanned observation monitoring station.

Teachers and students from the School of Automation of Southeast University have participated in seven Antarcticexpeditionsand deployed the "Dongda Jineng" intelligent power supply system for unmanned polar research at Taishan Station and Kunlun Station to supply power to the research equipment, provide environmental support and communication links. Deployed in 2019, "Dongda Jineng 1.0" is China's first self-developed unmanned energy system for polar regions. In 2022, "Dongda Jineng 2.0" was put into operation. Currently, the college has completed the iterative upgrade of "Dongda Jineng 3.0", achieving remote intelligent monitoring and fault early warning of the energy system of the world's highest-altitude scientific research station. The 10kWp unmanned integrated energy photovoltaic systemwas put into operation in 2023, reducing energy consumption by 50%; In 2024, an innovative collaborative operation and maintenance model of "traditional diesel power generation - new energy power generation" will be adopted. Relying on the digital twin platform, remote intelligent monitoring and fault early warning of the energy system of the Antarctic high-altitude research station will be realized, continuously providing core technical support such as energy supply, intelligent control, and unmanned observation for China's Antarctic research.

In order to allow the young teachers and students of the college to experience this exciting moment firsthand and cultivate the mission responsibility of "strengthening the country through science and technology, young people have a responsibility", the School of Automation organized representatives of teachers and students to participate in this welcome event together and visit the "Xuelong" research vessel "up close", further stimulating the enthusiasm and determination of the young teachers and students of the School of Automation to scale the heights of science and strive to innovate, Inspire them to carry forward the spirit of Antarctic scientific research in their future scientific endeavors and contribute more power ofSEU Automation to the country's polar scientific research and technological development.
