From July 27th to 30th, 199 teaching teams from 31 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities) across the country gathered at Fudan University to participate in the final of the first National University Teacher Teaching Innovation. Junyang Li, a young teacher from the School of Automation of Southeast University, won the first prize of the Intermediate group of affiliated colleges and universities, the teaching academic innovation award, and the teaching design innovation award on behalf of Jiangsu Province.
Li started teaching in 2002. In 2011, under the promotion and support of the school, he began to carry out the teaching reform, which made project teaching a specialty in the school's computer language courses.
Since then, he won several prizes together with the school's teaching team, such as the first prize of Jiangsu Province Teaching Achievement, the second prize of the school teaching award fund, and the school's Three methods of education activists. He was also shortlisted for the school's I love my teacher ten most popular teachers. In 2017, the online open course Basics of Programming-Discovering the Beauty of Computing began to be built. It took the development of students as the central task, reshaped the teaching content from cognitive law and engineering practice, and emphasized ideological and political education. The course successively won the first prize of the online open courses of Jiangsu Province Construction project, the first prize of the ideological and political course of the provincial micro-class competition, the excellent case of online open courses of the China Computer Education MOOC Alliance, the excellent case of online teaching during the epidemic of the National Institute of Computer Basic Education Research Association, and the excellent ideological and political Demonstration course of Southeast University. In 2020, the courses were approved as the country's first batch of first-class online and offline mixed undergraduate courses.
On September 30, 2020, under the guidance of the Higher Education Department of the Ministry of Education, China Higher Education Association first launched the National College Teacher Teaching Innovation Competition, a professional teaching competition. It is the only national teaching competition during the 14th Five-Year Plan period of the Ministry of Education. The competition is divided into 31 competition areas nationwide. 50,386 teachers from 1071 general undergraduate colleges and universities actively participated in the school level competition; 12,625 teachers participated in the provincial level competition, including 3,981 lecturers and 8,644 team members; among the lecturers, there were 1,187 senior titles and 1,470 deputy senior title, accounting for 67% of the total number of lecturers participating in the provincial competition. A group of deans, experts, scholars, and senior professors of second-level colleges actively signed up to participate in the competition. Since the start of the competition, the competition has received extensive attention and enthusiastic participation from all walks of life.
As the school organizing unit of this competition, the School Party Committee Teacher Work Department (Teacher Teaching Development Center) made careful arrangements, actively planned, and selected outstanding school teachers to participate in the competition. The center continues to study and implement General Secretary Xi Jinping's important expositions on education and the spirit of the National Education Conference. It fully implements the spirit of the National Undergraduate Education Work Conference in the New Era, adheres to the fundamental task of strengthening morality education, and implements the Textbook basis, Four returns requirements. Guided by the construction concept of new engineering, new agriculture, new medicine, and new liberal arts, the center focuses on teaching innovation, setting off a learning revolution, guiding teachers to devote themselves to teaching and educating people, and leading people to pursue the value and form the conscious action towards excellent teaching. It forms the vane of teaching reform in colleges and universities and makes every effort to promote the quality revolution of higher education.
